Statistics from the Statistics Department, in the year 2000 (the most recent year that a population survey was conducted), there are 548,220 people living in urban area in Klang District, representing a percentage of 97.3% over a total population of 648,918 in the whole district.

Inhabitants in both districts reside both in town and rural areas, where majority of Klang district population (93%) live in urban areas while the remaining 7% live in rural areas. In contrast, 44% of Kuala Langat district population lives in urban areas while 56% live in rural areas. A total of 838,901 inhabits both districts, representing a 21% share from total population of Selangor. 

There are 149,748 living quarters in Klang District with a total of 143,546 households. A smaller population in Kuala Langat District sees a sum of 39,580 living quarters with 38,914 households.

Among the Klang coastal village located in the project are Kampung Bagan Hailam, Kampung Perepat, Kampung Telok Gong, Sementa, Sungai Serdang, Pulau Ketam dan Pulau Indah. On the other hand Kampung Morib, Kampung Batu Laut, Kampung Titip dan Kampung Tanjung Layang are located on the coastal belt of Kuala Langat district.
